Well not in the eating your flesh freaky movie sort of way. But in the sleep walking way. I think zombies are are checked out people sleep walking in a commercialized sub-existence. Following propaganda, suppressing their souls with pharmaceutical daydreams. How satisfying is a life that gets off work to hurry home to watch someone else live out their fantasy of adventure on the most trendiest sitcom?
I imagined plugging into the matrix when I decided to get a smart phone after 4 years of existing with out one. I was not a Luddite, in fact I utilized the internet and had an internet phone number (which is this day and ages land line). But, I admit I worried about becoming addicted to technology, really I worried about becoming dependent on it.
So many people are looking down at their gizmos and not engaging with each other. I see it on BART, a lot, or even walking down the street, having a meal in a restaurant...there folks are - out of the immediate moment and instead they're plugged right into the interweb.
I have a love hate with it. It is so easy to be multitasking with the smart phone. Getting lots done; planning, reading, navigating, texting, facebooking, instagraming, whatever the heck.
But technology isn't the culprit, it's an aspect of checking out. So is eating unhealthily, not taking care of the body, watching other people live life on t.v. and folks ignoring their true calling in life. You know that thing that makes you excited to get up and start your day. The sleepwalkers are forgetting to discover and live out their purpose.
Crazy really how it's becoming more apparent to me that humans are evolving, rapidly, into several subsets of types of human. With the extreme being health and planet conscious to those who don't seem to care about themselves or anyone. There folks out there who are so pained by their own fear that they forget to look up.
Really it's about forgetting that we are powerful beyond measure and we are all one with this planet floating in space around the sun. AND the SUN is floating around in this tremendous GALAXY!
When I imagine it I swear I can feel the movement. I close my eyes and visualize spinning around in this vast galaxy and I gain perspective.
"We are all in the gutter, but some of us are looking at the stars." Oscar Wilde
Look up! Let's all look up and take action! Movement toward, walk this talk. Wow, I'm on a soap box. But, this is today's true blue authentic rant about zombies - sort of.
