Cinnamon is an amazing warming herb.
Not only is it warming but it also balances blood sugar by slowing the gastric release in the lower intestines, you know one of the major places in our bodies where we absorb nutrients.
Basically folks with blood sugar irregularities digest too quickly and their bodies don't absorb as many nutrients as they could. Causing them to feel hungry or not satisfied by their food with a need to eat again.
The amazing thing about cinnamon is it gives the body more time to absorb, which is important to a person challenged by low blood sugar. Plus often folks with low blood sugar need kidney stimulation, which cinnamon stimulates. All this mid belly action is energy and all this energy causes warmth. There you have it a warm belly.
I like to have cinnamon sprinkled on things that give the body immediate energy to shorten the quick up some foods offer thereby lessening the blow of a quick down. Foods like cinnamon and apple, the tradition is smart and 'tis the season. MMM yes, baked cinnamon apples, drenched in coconut oil.
Or a cinnamon chai; coconut milk, cinnamon, black pepper,
cardamom, nutmeg, clove and a touch of honey or stevia.
