How to roast your bay nuts:
These roasted nuts are very tasty as is. But you could coat them in some olive oil, nutritional yeast and salt. Or grind them up and add them to bread mixes or as a gravy base or even added to chocolate (which Dan is excited to do).
- Remove the bay fruit from its skin
- Crack one nut open to reveal the center and roast till a golden honey color, this one cracked open nut with help you gauge the 'doneness' of the still shelled roasting bay nuts
- Place bay nuts in 350° oven on un-greased oven sheet
(It takes about 15-20 minutes to roast). - Peel all the shells of roasted nut to reveal the roasted center
(it's easier after they've been roasted)
