deep mystical unfolding
You've been walking in circles, searching.
sunday morning in west oakland, jamming out to glorious music riding back seat in Sophia's car, headed toward brunch. she asks, "hey, hand me that orange," i do. and she rolls down the window to pass a dollar and the orange to a fellow with a sign that reads, "anything helps." then he says, are you headed to church?" i reply, "this is church!" he smiles, teeth missing and places his hand over his heart, gratitude in his eyes.

feels good to have surrounded myself with generous, compassionate people who see an opportunity to give a dollar/orange to the basket of god on the corner of life. this moment made holy, by conscious choice.

incredible start to our earth day.

today is the new moon. the new moon is the dark phase of the moon, when the sun's light is blocked by the earth's shadow and the moon appears "dark."
many folks link the dark phase of the moon as an end of a cycle. similar to the end cycle of a fertile womb, a time for women to release their uterine lining. for centuries women have come together to honor their natural cycles. recognizing how their cycles link to the tides of the ocean and the gravitational pull of the moon.
back in ancient times when the light bulb wasn't brighter then dark phase of the moon, women bled together. their inner clock aligned with the darkness that occurred with the new moon; the darkness of our fertile blood release. these women would build a tent and would slip away from the tribe and honor each others cycle, together.
in the letting go of our once fertile womb we have a period an end of a cycle. it gives our bodies a chance to build a new intention.
as a part of our moon lodge ritual we plant seeds of intention. watching it grow by the light of the moon, watching it come to fruition as the moon waxes full. then allowing for the release of our intent by watching the moon wane new again; just as our bodies prepare for our dark monthly bleed.
today- this ritual still lives on, through this gathering called moon lodge. my women and i hold up this tradition and come together every month. we share and tell, hold space, listen, skill share, sing, stretch, breath and plant seeds of intent together. we recognize this as a time to celebrate being women, women who bleed.
this month my seed of intent is commitment, i will show up; powerfully, authentically and with my heart open.
thank you women, thank you for showing up.
